Next week we will be joining colleagues from across the industry for the SCDM 2020 Virtual Conference. Bringing together data management professionals who are interested in learning from peers, this year’s conference will be a great opportunity to share new ideas and develop best practices. The program is rich in content and promises thought provoking discussions that address a wide range of topics – master protocols, data privacy, innovative technologies, clinical outcomes assessments (COAs), and pioneering approaches to risk-based quality management. Here are some of our top picks from the program.

Monday

On the topic of innovative technologies, the Mednet team is preparing for our Product Showcase at SCDM. On Monday, September 14, at 10:30 am ET, Mednet is conducting a half hour session titled, ‘Meet iMednet: Designed to Optimize Clinical Trials.’ This is a great opportunity for conference attendees to see the power of iMednet and how its native modules streamline data management, data capture and trial management activities.

Tuesday

We are anticipating some great interactions from the Regulatory Panel on Tuesday, September 15th at 8:00 am. Representatives from FDA CDER, the Danish Medicines Agency and MHRA will be on hand to answer attendee questions. It will be a great opportunity to hear directly from the regulators, while also learning from the experience of industry peers.

Wednesday

As a Silver Sponsor of the SCDM Conference, Mednet is proud to support the professional dialogue around emerging standards and practices. On Wednesday, September 16th at 10:15 am, such a discussion is occurring in Session 25: ‘Increasing Importance of Clinical Outcomes Assessments – Is DM Ready to Deal with it?

It looks to be a timely and useful session because of the increased use of COA measures in clinical research and the continuing challenges of data capture, analysis, and interpretation.

SCDM Program Reflects the Challenges of Data Management Today

The entire conference program reflects the increasing complexity of clinical trials. Some sessions cover complex clinical trial design topics like master protocols and look to discuss how they impact the role of data managers. Other presenters are introducing new use cases for promising technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning. Still others are sharing updates to existing data standards and evolving best practices.

The dynamic nature of clinical research and the sheer quantity and consistency of change is clear throughout the program. Although many challenges will be noted, the conference affords a place to initiate important discussions and further examine new ways of improving clinical research.

Whether through best practices, enabling technologies, or outside-the box thinking, coming together for these important discussions (in this case, virtually) helps the entire industry, move toward better, more efficient practices resulting in better and quicker outcomes.

Throughout the SCDM Conference, the Mednet team will also be hosting a virtual exhibit booth. If you want to learn more about iMednet, see a demo or talk with a Mednet representative you can stop by the Exhibitor Hall. Our team will be happy to show you the product and answer any questions.  We look forward to seeing you there!
